Of the four girls from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, I feel I identify to Bridget Vreeland the most. Not so much with where she is in life, with a single parent who shields her from her grandmother, and a brother who never contacts her, and her mother’s suicide looming always over her head, but I feel I identify with many other things she goes through.

He came home from Barnes and Noble one day with an oversized book. Blue, in a dust sleeve, he gave it to me with a note written to me inside it. Accompanied by it was a small stuffed bat with velcro on her wings and feet...

Uh, it’s late. I can hear the bats outside. Bats, as in small winged creatures (like Stellaluna) who use sonar to direct themselves in the dark. Coffee is going down the drain and I’m studying until the caffeine is drained from my system. So, another 30 minutes. Then, to bed.
